1“Now Bezalel and Oholiab and every person #36:1 Or skillfulwise at heart, to whom Yahweh has given #36:1 Or skillwisdom and discernment to know how to do all the work of the service of constructing the sanctuary, shall do in accordance with all that Yahweh has commanded.”
Making the Tabernacle
2Then Moses called Bezalel and Oholiab and every person #36:2 Or skillfulwise at heart to whom Yahweh had given #36:2 Or skillwisdom, everyone whose heart stirred him, to come to the work to do it. 3And they received from Moses the entire #36:3 Lit heave offeringcontribution which the sons of Israel had brought #36:3 Lit to perform it for the workto do the work in the service of the sanctuary. And they still continued bringing to him freewill offerings every morning. 4And all the #36:4 Or skillfulwise men who were doing all the work of the sanctuary came, each from #36:4 Lit histhe work which #36:4 Lit they werehe was doing, 5and they said to #36:5 Lit Moses, saying,Moses, “The people are bringing much more than enough for the service of the work which Yahweh commanded us to #36:5 Lit do itdo.” 6So Moses commanded and a #36:6 Lit voiceproclamation was passed throughout the camp, saying, “Let no man or woman any longer do the work for the #36:6 Lit heave offeringcontributions of the sanctuary.” Thus the people were restrained from bringing any more. 7Indeed, the #36:7 Lit workmaterial they had was sufficient and more than enough for all the work, to do it.
8And all those #36:8 Or skillfulwise at heart among those who were doing the work made the #36:8 Lit dwelling placetabernacle with ten curtains; of fine twisted linen and #36:8 Or violetblue and purple and scarlet material, with cherubim, the work of a skillful designer, #36:8 Lit heBezalel made them. 9The length of each curtain was #36:9 Approx. 43 ft. or 12.6 mtwenty-eight cubits and the width of each curtain four #36:9 A cubit was approx. 18 in. or 45 cmcubits; all the curtains had #36:9 Lit one measurethe same measurements. 10He #36:10 Or coupledjoined five curtains to one another, and the other five curtains he #36:10 Or coupledjoined to one another. 11He made loops of #36:11 Or violetblue on the edge of the #36:11 Lit one curtain from the end in the couplingoutermost curtain in the first #36:11 Lit couplingset; he did likewise on the edge of the curtain that was #36:11 Lit one curtain from the end in the couplingoutermost in the second #36:11 Lit couplingset. 12He made fifty loops in the one curtain, and he made fifty loops on the #36:12 Lit endedge of the curtain that was in the second #36:12 Lit couplingset; the loops were opposite each other. 13He made fifty clasps of gold and #36:13 Or coupledjoined the curtains to one another with the clasps, so the tabernacle was one unit.
14Then he made curtains of goats’ hair for a tent over the tabernacle; he made eleven curtains #36:14 Lit in numberin all. 15The length of each curtain was #36:15 Approx. 45 ft. or 13.5 mthirty cubits and four cubits the width of each curtain; the eleven curtains had #36:15 Lit one measurethe same measurements. 16He #36:16 Or coupledjoined five curtains by themselves and the other six curtains by themselves. 17Moreover, he made fifty loops on the edge of the curtain that was outermost in the first #36:17 Lit couplingset, and he made fifty loops on the edge of the curtain that was outermost in the second #36:17 Lit couplingset. 18He made fifty clasps of #36:18 Or copperbronze to #36:18 Or couplejoin the tent together so that it would be #36:18 Lit onea unit. 19He made a covering for the tent of rams’ skins #36:19 Or tanneddyed red and a covering of porpoise skins above.
20Then he made the boards for the tabernacle of acacia wood, standing upright. 21Ten cubits was the length of #36:21 Lit theeach board and one and a half cubits the width of each board. 22There were two tenons for each board, #36:22 Lit boundfitted to one another; thus he did for all the boards of the tabernacle. 23And he made the boards for the tabernacle: twenty boards #36:23 Lit to the side of the Negev, to the southfor the south side; 24and he made forty bases of silver under the twenty boards; two bases under one board for its two tenons and two bases under another board for its two tenons. 25Then for the second side of the tabernacle, on the north side, he made twenty boards, 26and their forty bases of silver; two bases under one board and two bases under another board. 27For the #36:27 Lit extreme partsrear of the tabernacle, to the west, he made six boards. 28And he made two boards for the corners of the #36:28 Lit dwelling placetabernacle at the #36:28 Lit extreme partsrear. 29And they were #36:29 Lit twinsseparated beneath, but were together at their completion at the #36:29 Or headtop, #36:29 Or with reference toat the first ring; thus he did with both of them for the two corners. 30And there were eight boards with their bases of silver, sixteen bases, two bases under every board.
31Then he made bars of acacia wood, five for the boards of one side of the tabernacle, 32and five bars for the boards of the #36:32 Or secondother side of the tabernacle, and five bars for the boards of the tabernacle for the #36:32 Lit extreme partsrear side to the west. 33And he made the middle bar to pass through in the #36:33 Lit midstcenter of the boards from end to end. 34He also overlaid the boards with gold and made their rings of gold as holders for the bars and overlaid the bars with gold.
35Moreover, he made the veil of #36:35 Or violetblue and purple and scarlet material and fine twisted linen; he made it with cherubim, the work of a skillful designer. 36And he made four pillars of acacia for it and overlaid them with gold, with their hooks of gold; and he cast four bases of silver for them. 37And he made a screen for the doorway of the tent, of #36:37 Or violetblue and purple and scarlet material and fine twisted linen, the work of a #36:37 A weaver in colors; lit variegatorweaver; 38and he made its five pillars with their hooks, and he overlaid their tops and their #36:38 Or fillets, ringsbands with gold; but their five bases were of #36:38 Or copperbronze.
