PSALM 56
Pleading for Help and Grateful Trust in God.

1Be gracious to me, God, for a man has #56.1: Or snapped attrampled upon me;
# 56.1: Or A fighting man Fighting all day long he oppresses me.
2My enemies have trampled upon me all day long,
For #56.2: Or many are fightingthey are many who fight proudly against me.
3 # 56.3: Lit The day When I am afraid,
# 56.3: Or I am one who puts I will put my trust in You.
4In God, whose word I praise,
In God I have put my trust;
I shall not be afraid.
What can mere #56.4: Lit fleshmortals do to me?
5All day long they distort my words;
All their #56.5: Or purposesthoughts are against me for evil.
6They #56.6: Or stir up strifeattack, they lurk,
They watch my #56.6: Lit heelssteps,
As they have waited to take my #56.6: Lit soullife.
7Because of their wickedness, will there be an escape for them?
In anger make the peoples fall down, God!
8¶You have taken account of my #56.8: Or wanderingsmiseries;
Put my tears in Your bottle.
Are they not in Your book?
9Then my enemies will turn back on the day when I call;
This I know, #56.9: Or becausethat God is for me.
10In God, whose word I praise,
In the Lord, whose word I praise,
11In God I have put my #56.11: Or trust without feartrust, I shall not be afraid.
What can mankind do to me?
12Your vows are binding upon me, God;
I will render thanksgiving offerings to You.
13For You have saved my soul from death,
# 56.13: Or Have You not delivered Indeed my feet from stumbling,
So that I may walk before God
In the light of the #56.13: Or lifeliving.
