PSALM 66
Come and See the Works of God
For the choir director. A Song. A Psalm.
1Make a loud shout to God, all the earth;
2Sing praise for the glory of His name;
Establish His praise as glorious.
3Say to God, “How #66:3 Or awesomefearsome are Your works!
Because of the abundance of Your strength Your enemies will #66:3 Lit deceivecower before You.
4“All the earth will worship You,
And will sing praises to You;
They will sing praises to Your name.” #66:4 Selah may mean Pause, Crescendo, Musical InterludeSelah.
5¶Come and see the works of God,
Who is fearsome in His deeds toward the sons of men.
6He turned the sea into dry land;
They passed through the river on foot;
There let us be glad in Him!
7He rules by His might forever;
His eyes keep watch on the nations;
Let not the rebellious exalt themselves. Selah.
8¶Bless our God, O peoples,
And #66:8 Lit cause to hear the sound of His praisemake the sound of His praise heard,
9Who #66:9 Lit puts our soul in lifeestablishes us among the living
And does not allow our feet to stumble.
10For You have tested us, O God;
You have refined us as silver is refined.
11You brought us into the net;
You established an oppressive burden upon our loins.
12You made men ride over our heads;
We went through fire and through water,
Yet You brought us out into a place of abundance.
13I shall come into Your house with burnt offerings;
I shall pay You my vows,
14Which my lips uttered
And my mouth spoke when I was in distress.
15I shall offer to You burnt offerings of fat beasts,
With the smoke of rams;
I shall make an offering of #66:15 Or cattlebulls with male goats. Selah.
16¶Come and hear, all who #66:16 Or reverencefear God,
And I will recount what He has done for my soul.
17I called out to Him with my mouth,
And #66:17 Lit praise was underHe was exalted with my tongue.
18If I #66:18 Or had regardedsee wickedness in my heart,
The Lord #66:18 Or wouldwill not #66:18 Or have heardhear;
19But certainly God has heard;
He has given heed to the voice of my prayer.
20Blessed be God,
Who has not turned away my prayer
Nor His lovingkindness from me.
