PSALM 94
God of Vengeance, Shine Forth
1O Yahweh, God of #94:1 Or avenging actsvengeance,

2Be lifted up, O Judge of the earth,
Render recompense to the proud.
3How long shall the wicked, O Yahweh,
How long shall the wicked exult?
4They pour forth words, they speak arrogantly;
All workers of iniquity vaunt themselves.
5They crush Your people, O Yahweh,
And afflict Your inheritance.
6They slay the widow and the sojourner
And murder the orphans.
7They have said, “Yah does not see,
Nor does the God of Jacob discern.”
8¶Discern, you senseless among the people;
And when will you have insight, you fools?
9He who planted the ear, #94:9 Or candoes He not hear?
He who formed the eye, #94:9 Or candoes He not see?
10He who #94:10 Or instructsdisciplines the nations, will He not rebuke,
Even He who teaches man knowledge?
11Yahweh knows the thoughts of man,
# 94:11 Or For That they are vanity.
12¶Blessed is the man whom You discipline, O Yah,
And whom You teach out of Your law;
13That You may grant him calm from the days of calamity,
Until a pit is dug for the wicked.
14For Yahweh will not abandon His people,
Nor will He forsake His inheritance.
15For #94:15 Administration of justicejudgment will #94:15 Lit return to righteousnessagain be righteous,
And all the upright in heart will #94:15 Lit be after itfollow it.
16Who will arise for me against evildoers?
Who will take his stand for me against workers of iniquity?
17¶If Yahweh had not been my help,
My soul would soon have dwelt in the abode of silence.
18If I should say, “My foot has stumbled,”
Your lovingkindness, O Yahweh, will hold me up.
19When my anxious thoughts #94:19 Or are manymultiply within me,
Your consolations delight my soul.
20Can a #94:20 Or tribunalthrone of destruction be allied with You,
One which forms #94:20 Or misfortunetrouble by statute?
21They band themselves together against the #94:21 Or soullife of the righteous
And condemn #94:21 Lit innocent bloodthe innocent to death.
22But Yahweh has been my stronghold,
And my God the rock of my refuge.
23He has brought back their #94:23 Or wickednessiniquity upon them
And will #94:23 Or silencedestroy them in their evil;
Yahweh our God will #94:23 Or silencedestroy them.
